Let’s leave Mindanao for a while and visit a place that also starts with “Mi” — Michigan. As I’ve written before, I was in the US for seven weeks last year to participate in the International Journalism Exchange (IJE) administered by the Washington, DC-based International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). When the program was done I spent a couple of weeks with family, first with my mother and brother in LA and then with my sister-in-law and her family in Troy, Michigan. Unfortunately I didn’t have a decent camera in LA, but I was able to buy a Lumix point-and-shoot in Michigan and was able to get some good pictures. Except for the shots in Stoney Creek (which were taken with my brother-in-law’s Nikon D80), all of these were taken with the Lumix — which just goes to show how much one can do with even a simple camera.
